Spinach Burgers

Ground beef burger highlighted with the addition of spinach, dry bread crumbs, and cheddar cheese. Served on gourmet hamburger buns, and topped with lettuce and tomato.
Ingredients -
1 (10 ounces) package Frozen Chopped Spinach, thawed, drained, and pressed between paper towels
2 pounds Lean Ground Beef
1/2 cup Fine, Dry Bread Crumbs
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar Cheese
2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/8 teaspoon Coarse Salt
1/8 teaspoon Fresh Ground Black Pepper
8 Large Hamburger Buns
Leaf Lettuce and Tomato slices
 
Preparation:

1. Add chopped spinach, lean ground beef, dry bread crumbs, cheddar cheese, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper.

2. Stir with wooden spoon to combine.

3. Shape into 8 burger patties.

4. Sauté the patties for 5 minutes, turn and sauté additional 5 minutes. Juices will run clear when done.

5. Serve on hamburger buns.

6. Top with lettuce and tomatoes.

7. Serve with the condiments of your choice.

 
Sandwich Making Tip
Spinach
No reason not to use fresh spinach if you want. Add a pound of fresh spinach to a skillet with a little water and saute until it becomes soft and tender. Remove from the skillet and drain.

Bread Crumbs
Use your favorite brand of bread crumbs. Choose a bread crumb that has not been flavored.
